Dave Papandrea, Intern

Dave Papandrea is the newest member of the Trinity Family Counseling Center team. Dave has completed all coursework required of his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oakland University, and is scheduled to graduate in the fall of 2021. His work at Trinity is under the direct supervision of Tonya Ratliff, LPC, NCC, ACS.
In addition to his individual case load at Trinity, Dave will also serve as a co-facilitator of the Walk With Me® Grief Support Group.
Dave is currently a full-time firefighter with experience in post-traumatic and acute stress disorders. He also has experience in marriage and family counseling, as well as adjustment and anxiety disorders. Dave serves as the fire union’s chaplain, and provides pastoral care to its membership. However, at the end of the day his favorite role is husband, and father of four.
Dave has experience working with a range of diverse populations. He has coordinated youth and young adult ministries and served as a crisis interventionist for families in need. He currently volunteers in Oakland County providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefing to residents and businesses. As a firefighter since 1997, Dave has had the opportunity to develop an understanding of, and empathy for, mental illness and mental health crises within the community. Dave looks forward to continuing to expand upon his knowledge and skills while serving as an intern at Trinity.
Dave’s personal counseling philosophy is that he is a traveler on YOUR journey. He believes YOU are the expert of you, and that the power of change is already within you. It is his goal to walk with you on your journey to wellness, allowing you to lead at your own pace, hoping to point out items in your blind spots along the way.
