Shelley Kruszewski, Counseling Intern

Shelley Kruszewski is the newest member of the Trinity Family Counseling Center team. She has completed all coursework required of her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oakland University, and is scheduled to graduate in the Spring of 2023. Her work at Trinity is under the direct supervision of Tonya Ratliff, LPC, ACS.
In addition to her individual case load at Trinity, Shelley will also serve as a co-facilitator of the Walk With Me® Grief Support Group.
Shelley’s undergraduate study is in Education. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Wayne State University and has worked with students of all grade levels and learning abilities. Her natural progression in life was to become a school counselor, but once starting the program at Oakland University, she recognized the need for counselors within the larger community. As a practicum counselor, Shelley has had experience working with clients struggling with anxiety and depressive disorders, relationship issues, and significant losses.
Shelley’s previous support staff experience with Catholic Charities of S.E. Michigan has helped her gain valuable insight within a community mental health setting and diverse populations. Shelley has had the opportunity to develop an understanding of, and empathy for, mental health and looks forward to continuing to expand upon her knowledge and skills while serving as an intern at Trinity.
Shelley’s personal counseling philosophy is: “There is hope for your future!” She believes that counseling should be tailored to a client’s unique needs, and uses an Integrative Therapy approach. “Whether you desire coping skills, or just need a safe place to be heard, I want to meet you where you are. I am here to help you on your journey!”
