LLC Supervision

Tonya Ratliff provides Clinical Supervision for LLCs working toward their 3,000 hours of post-degree counseling experience, as required by the state of Michigan. Tonya has completed extensive post-graduate training in Clinical Supervision, and holds the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential from the Center for Credentialing and Education. She has provided supervision in both university and private practice settings.

Tonya’s approach to supervision is collaborative in nature, with a focus on the Supervisee’s professional behaviors, counseling skills, personal awareness and beliefs, the therapeutic relationship with their clients, case conceptualization and treatment planning.

A new counselor’s first foray into a clinical setting with troubled clients can be overwhelming and preoccupying at times. For this reason, Tonya also provides ongoing support for the many insecurities that plague new counselors. This support includes a focus on the counselor’s perspective of their own strengths, time management skills, and maintaining boundaries between their professional role and personal life.
Tonya provides supervision for individual, couples, and family counseling, and adheres to the ethical principal that she only supervise within the scope of her own education, experience, and skills. Therefore, Tonya does not provide supervision for school counselors, substance abuse counselors, or those working with very young children.

Tonya offers a one-hour complimentary interview to individuals seeking supervision to discuss in detail the potential supervisory relationship.

Supervision Fees:

1) Individual Supervision Fee = $80.00
  • 60 minutes of one-on-one supervision
  • weekly / bi-weekly / monthly / as requested
2) Group Supervision Fee = $60.00
  • 90-minutes of group supervision
  • weekly / bi-weekly / monthly

Reviews from Past Supervisees:

Tonya supervised all my LLC hours. Her expertise, judgment and patience provided a solid, encouraging anchor for my professional growth. Although she has many years of experience counseling, supervising counselors and running a practice, she always brought full engagement and fresh energy to our meetings. She provided both group and individual supervision, and was also available for consultation as needed. I would recommend her to any new counselor looking for a skilled, robust and highly supportive supervisory experience.

Sherrie Darnell, LLC, NCC
Licensed Counselor, Trinity Family Counseling Center
I would not be where I am in business today without the tremendous opportunity I was afforded at Trinity Family Counseling Center as their intern. Tonya Ratliff provided above and beyond supervision throughout my internship experience, while the rest of her staff continuously offered support and guidance. Immediately, I felt “at home” and was elated to see a variety of clients in a very quick amount of time. Grief, anxiety, depression, panic, chronic pain, self-esteem, parent-child relationships, and group counseling were just some of the cases I was exposed to throughout my internship experience. As my Trinity journey continued, my experience became even more rich, and by the time I had completed my hours I felt that I was ready to tackle my career with the utmost confidence. And, I always know I have Tonya in my corner.

Since exiting internship, I have hired Tonya to provide me with continued supervision throughout my LLPC hours. She is always prepared and willing to address any concerns I might have in regards to my counseling skills or a particular case that I might be working on. I value every hour of supervision and walk away feeling like a better counselor each and every time.

The quality and care that Tonya provides is exceptional. She was always prepared for each and every one of our sessions. She was completely engaged, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Tonya allows you the opportunity to discuss what you want to address first and she will always follow up with guidance, reassurance, and support.  She has a great ability to assist and guide you so that you can build your own style of counseling, as well as, help discover and define your special niche’ as a professional counselor.

In addition to supporting and developing your own skills and career, Tonya takes the time to ensure that you are taking part in self-care.  The work we do as counselors in a helping profession can be draining at times, so she makes sure to support you and your family by ensuring that we take time for self-care.

For those searching for a clinical supervisor, I would like to offer my high recommendation for Tonya Ratliff. I have been supervised by Tonya for the past 5 years, from practicum, through internships and my journey to full licensure. She possesses all of the skills and professionalism necessary to help guide new clinicians through the required hours of post degree work, and beyond.

Tonya’s approach is friendly and caring, and she is always ready to begin each session prepared and organized. I value her knowledge and attention to detail, and most importantly, I am always assured that she has my back and available when I need her, which all new clinicians know is gold!

Our case conceptualization discussions are interesting and productive. She is an avid reader and keeps abreast of what is new in the world of counseling which adds valuable layers to how we come to view our clients.

Choosing a supervisor is a very important decision, one that cannot be taken lightly. After all, this is someone you will be spending a lot of time with. I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to ask Tonya to be my supervisor. Not only is she the consummate professional but, she is kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable. No matter the topic, she is able to guide you in the right direction, ask the right questions and provide you with great resources.  Thanks to Tonya, I have become a much more confident therapist.  She has become a wonderful mentor and I would highly recommend choosing her as a supervisor.

Kathy Cap, LLPC, NCC
Former Counselor, Trinity Family Counseling Center
I highly recommend Tonya Ratliff, LPC, NCC, ACS, as an exemplary supervisor for mental health professionals.

As a recent intern completing my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, Tonya was instrumental in my success of completing my education and working toward my future goals.  Mental health professionals understand the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the quality of supervision depends on the emotional bond beyond the goals and objectives.  Tonya cares deeply about the growth and development of the individuals she supervises.  Tonya provides consistent, high-quality feedback in a thorough, timely, honest, and helpful way.  She is a gifted mentor, teacher, organizer, and leader.  I know I was blessed that our paths crossed and for what the future will hold.

Debbie Caine MA, LLPC, NCC

I’m so glad I chose Tonya as my counseling supervisor.

Tonya brings years of knowledge and clinical experience to her supervision sessions. You will be taken care of clinically and professionally. If she does not know the answer to your question, she finds the answer or connects you with the right person or resource. Tonya’s insights to my clinical questions were well-organized, packed full of answers, and showed care for my clients and me.

Tonya is professional and wants the best for her supervisees. You do not feel like a number. I am a better counselor because of her work and investment in me and my professional career. Choose Tonya!
