Kathy Cap, LLPC, NCC

Tonya Ratliff, LPC, NCC, ACS
Kathy Cap is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) in private practice at Trinity Family Counseling Center.  She is a graduate of Oakland University with a Masters in Counseling and joins Trinity after a number of years in a solo practice. Kathy enjoys working with couples, and adults of all ages, including those older adults facing an array of life transitions related to health changes, loss, and caregiving.

Kathy understands the vulnerability inherent in asking for help. She also recognizes that seeking support often feels difficult and daunting. However, Kathy believes that in a safe and open environment, change is possible. Everything you need to move forward in your life is within you; the answers are there. Sometimes, with all the noise in our lives, it can be difficult to recognize what our next steps could be. Together, we can discover a path to a more joyful life.

Kathy’s specific areas of experience, expertise, and passion are:

Adults Struggling with Depression, Anxiety and Transition
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. When we are faced with change, loss, or disappointment, it’s easy to question our choices. Those questions or thoughts can become so overwhelming that we find ourselves stuck, depressed, or anxious. Not knowing how to move forward can be scary. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Marriage / Couples Counseling

We all have heard that marriage takes a lot of work but what exactly does that mean?  As someone who has been married for 25 years, Kathy understands how important communication and respect are in developing and maintaining a healthy marriage.  In marriages, as well as any relationship, if we feel that our concerns are not being heard we become resentful.  Communication is not just about WHAT you say—but HOW you say it.  Kathy is committed to helping couples create a stronger and more loving relationship.

Adults 50 +
If we are lucky enough to reach our golden years, we soon realize that aging has it’s own set of challenges.  Often times this stage in our lives includes loss. Whether it’s the loss of a spouse, the loss of the physical capabilities you once had, or the loss of identity that comes with retirement, these changes can be difficult. Kathy enjoys helping clients discover how they can continue to find fulfillment and joy in their lives.
